An angiogram is an imaging test that helps us identify blockages in the arterial system so that we can make a thorough diagnosis.
We begin this procedure by placing a catheter into the femoral artery so that we can access the damaged artery. Next, we put a special fluid into the affected artery in order to detect possible blockages. If you have a pre-existing vascular condition, this procedure can also be performed to open an arterial blockage. Generally speaking, patients are sedated as we perform this short procedure. If you have current venous or vascular diseases or a history of serious cardiovascular health problems, an angiogram may be needed for us to determine appropriate treatment options.
