Patients suffering from pelvic congestion syndrome may experience symptoms including:
- Chronic pain or heaviness in lower abdomen and back
- Worsened pain with standing, intercourse, menstruation and/or pregnancy
- Irritable bladder syndrome
- Varicosities in the groin and buttocks region
Risk factors of pelvic congestion syndrome include:
- Two or more pregnancies and hormonal increases
- Fullness of leg veins
- Polycystic ovaries
- Hormonal dysfunction
Many patients with PCS are misdiagnosed and therefore believe that they must endure the pain. However, with today’s minimally-invasive treatments available, patients are able to get the help and relief they need. At Hamilton Vein Center, we will perform the appropriate tests to determine the cause of your symptoms, which may include an ultrasound of your legs (if CVI may be an issue for you). Also, our vein experts, who are trained in performing minimally invasive treatments using image guidance, may perform a pelvic ultrasound and venogram to determine your specific diagnosis and treatment.
See our “Vein Treatments” tab to learn about the vein treatments we recommend and offer at Hamilton Vein Center.
